Obituary of Edith Hood HOOD, EDITH FAYE NIX, 82, of Fruitland Park, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. She was one of eleven children from the late Dollie Rentz and Jessie P. Nix, born on November 21, 1930 in Eldorendo, Georgia. After graduating from Miller County High School, she moved to Albany, Georgia and worked as a telephone operator. She married Robert Nathan Hood on April 14, 1950 in Albany, Georgia, and relocated to Fruitland Park, Florida in 1958. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fruitland Park and worked as a school lunch room manager for the Lake County School Food Service Association for 26 years, retiring in 1992. She is survived by siblings: William Roy Nix(Ruby) and Eathel Nix Cook Tyler (Hank); her children: Charles(Sarah), Dennis(Kathleen), Scott(Patti), Melanie (Jim); her grandchildren: Caroline(Dan), Rachel, Jason(Arely), Bryan(Cassie), Jennifer(Chris), Alex, Lauren, Rob, Erin(Mike); great grand children: Christina, Joshua, Jennifer, Jacqueline, Allan, Shaheem, Jesse, Eathan, Aubrey and Michael and great-great grand children: Caiden and Audrey; and her many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving and devoted wife, a compassionate mother, sister and aunt, and the sweetest gramma ever! She loved to cook and share her passion for cooking with her children and grand children. She also loved to fish and quilt, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. A celebration of her life will begin with a visitation from 6-8pm on Friday, April 5 at Beyers Funeral Home, 1123 West Main Street, Leesburg, Florida. The service will be at 1pm on Saturday, April 6, officiated by Pastor Chuck Padgett at Trinity Assembly of God, 200 Urick Street, Fruitland Park, Florida. After the memorial service she will be laid to rest at Shiloh Cemetery, Fruitland Park, Florida, beside her beloved husband, Robert.
