Edgar A. Marsh

Edgar A. Marsh, beloved father, and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at the age of ninety-two in Leesburg, FL. Born December 1930 in Jackson, MS, Edgar lived a full and varied life. While in high school, Edgar worked at the soda shop downtown, where he'd "sling" sodas and floats to the locals. He would later recall his first job with fondness to his granddaughter, who loved imagining her grandfather in a white paper hat as a soda jerk. Edgar served as an Army First Lieutenant in artillery during the Korean War and returned as a decorated combat veteran. Egar then resumed his studies in Electrical Engineering at Mississippi College. As an electrical engineer working with telephone companies, he contributed to the expansion of telephone networks across the Southern U.S. The greatest of Edgar's achievements were as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. A dedicated husband, he and his wife Carol spent many vibrant years together. As a father, he was a guiding light for his children, providing unwavering support, love, and encouragement throughout their lives. As a grandfather, Edgar brought warmth and joy to the lives of his grandchildren, sharing stories, laughter, and the wisdom of a life well-lived. His wisdom and affection created cherished memories that will be passed down through the generations, a testament to his enduring legacy of love and family devotion. Edgar was an active community member, serving as President of the Lakeport Residence Council. He regularly attended social gatherings and community events, and the highlight of his day was morning coffee with his friends. Edgar was best known for his humor, generous spirit, and the sort of efficiency only inherent to an engineer. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol. Edgar is survived by his sons Joseph and Charles, daughter-in-law Jacquelin, and grandchildren Cameron and Rachel. A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at 11 AM at Beyer's Funeral Home (1123 W Main St, Leesburg, FL). Visitation for friends and family will be held at 10 AM.
