Obituary of Douglas Tabor Douglas Wayne Tabor, 64, was born July 4th, 1949. Not only was he born on Independence Day and a Vietnam Veteran, but he was known to many for his patriotism. He has been residing in The Villages, Florida for the last 5 years. As a true Lions Football and Tigers Baseball fan, he was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Doug also resided in Hartford, Connecticut for over 20 years while he continued to work for the Federal Government until his retirement in 2007. He retired with 30 years of service and ended as Chief of the Contract Management Division. Doug achieved his master's degree at Northern Michigan University where he discovered his love of learning. Reading the Daily Sun, and keeping up with the stock market were some of his most recent hobbies. While serving for the country in the Vietnam War, Doug was assigned to the 31st Combat Engineering Battalion and attached to the First Air Cavalry Division. His military decorations include the Vietnam Campaign, Vietnam Service, and Bronze Star Metals. He was very dedicated to serve for his country. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica, Son-in-law, Michael, and 3 month old grandson, Juddsen. Also loved by his siblings, (brother David, sister-in-law Nan, sister Suzanne, brother-in-law Ernie, sister Denise, brother-in-law Vern, as well as his late brother John). The funeral service for Mr. Tabor will be held at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel, Lady Lake, FL at 12:30pm on Monday, September, 30, 2013. Family and friend may call at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the service. Graveside services will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at 2:30 PM with full military honors conducted by Spring Hill Marine Corps League Honor Guard. Visitation family and friend may call at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the service.
