Douglas Kent Mosier

Douglas Kent Mosier, 84, of The Villages passed away on April 18, 2026, at home after a long illness with his wife by his side. Doug was predeceased by his parents Edward and Marion Mosier. Also, his beloved wife, Carol Moran Mosier, a son Thomas Edward Mosier and his wife, Stacy. He is also survived by his sister -in - law Martha Moran Majors, her husband Michael and their daughter Meg Moran Nichols and her husband Chris. Beloved friends include Kevin Logan, his dog Buster, Leonie Ingram, and Linda Mells. A Church Service will be held at Hope Lutheran Church in the Villages, Florida on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 10:30am with Military Honors. The Mosier family invites family and friends to their residence for a Luncheon:1586 Blease Loop, The Villages, FL 32162, following the church services. Doug was a brilliant man who never stopped learning. For “entertainment “he read history books, especially. We could ask him any sports statistics and he would know the answer and would add more information. He loved talking about the Civil War about which he was an expert. Classical music and chess were also a part of his interests. At our parties he was a fabulous host and he loved to “hold court” with this story telling. Doug would grab hold of a subject and not let it go until he had learned everything he could about it. He coached soccer with abandon and played golf with the same enthusiasm. Additionally, his interests included serving as a member of church councils at the many churches he attended. He also loved traveling with Carol; he planned the trips and they were fun as well as education. He truly loved the food and good wine on these trips. Doug’s core values and integrity were reflected both in his family life and his professional life. His laughter was absolutely contagious, and everyone loved his wonderful smile. If anyone wanted to learn about “banter” you could listen to the Doug and Thomas. They were pros and those times were always learning experiences for Thomas. Thomas learned from the BEST. Doug graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1959. He attended and graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1963 He served in the Army as an Intelligence Officer for 20 Years including two tours in Vietnam. He was the recipient of several medals including the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star. After retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1963, he served an additional 20 years in the intelligence community with the CIA, General Electric, Mitre and SAIC. Doug graduated with a degree with an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1972. Doug was well known, highly regarded and was in great demand by his colleagues in the intelligence community. After retiring Doug and Carol moved to The Villages where he was active in the Parrot Head Club, played golf, and traveled with Carol. As he was greatly loved so shall he be greatly missed.
