David Paul Icker

David Paul Icker passed from this life into the arms of his loving savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by family on January 20, 2021 in Leesburg, Florida at the age of 47. He was born in Orlando, Florida on December 16, 1973. David was a gift from God to the Icker family on February 28, 1974. David graduated from Taveres High School in Taveres, Florida in 1994. He loved Special Olympics and was an athlete in many sports. In 2014 he was a swimmer in the World Special Olympics in New Jersey. He enjoyed going to the YMCA, and participating in Special Olympics in swimming, basketball, bowling, volleyball and weight lifting. David worked as a bag boy at Winn Dixie and in the Lowe's Garden Center. His favorite job was an assistant at Neil Fischer Realty and he made many friends there. Mr. Neil was a special friend to David and we are thankful for the time David worked there. David's faith was very important to him. He spent hours making signs that were displayed on the corner fence post as you drive into Mom's house. He wanted everyone to know, "Jesus loves You" and "has a plan for your life!" Many times he would bring an index card for Mom to check the spelling as he was preparing another message for his sign. His arms would be black with ink from the markers up to his elbows as he sat and filled in each letter. We will never know how many people he touched as they read the signs he made driving up and down Sleepy Hollow Road. David was an active member of Life Church, Assembly of God. He volunteered at the Hope House and always had a smiling face for everyone. David is survived by his loving mother, Peggy and his siblings, Suzette (Philip) Dunn, Nanette (Clifford) Matthews, Paul Icker, Juliette (Danny) Townsend, Troy Icker & Joy Icker and host of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, E. Richard Icker. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with memorial service immediately following, at Life Church, 04001 Picciola Road, Fruitland Park, Florida 34731 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in David's memory can be made to Life Church or Lake County Special Olympics.
