David S. Hood

David "Scott" Hood, 58, passed away at home with his loved ones by his side on Saturday, September 30, 2017 after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born on April 4, 1959 in Leesburg, Florida to the late Edith and Robert Hood. Scott was a graduate of Leesburg High School, Class of '77, and Florida State University, Class of '81, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel/Restaurant Administration. Scott was an amazing husband, father and best friend to his family. He enjoyed gardening, cruising with Disney Cruise Line, exploring the mountains of North Carolina, and getting together at their annual family reunions in Georgia. He was looking forward to welcoming his first grandchild, Adalida Scott Emrick, this fall, but instead will be her very special guardian angel. He also enjoyed his food and beverage management positions with Walt Disney World, and most recently, his banquet and catering sales manager career at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center. He truly appreciated the support and genuine care from his "work family," especially as he continued to work as much as possible while battling cancer. Scott had such a servant's heart and touched the lives of so many, and he will never be forgotten. He is at peace now and reunited with his family in heaven. Scott is survived by his beloved wife, Patti Hood of Winter Garden, Florida and their children who brought him so much joy; his son, Alex Hood, of Locust Grove, Virginia, his daughter, Lauren Hood Emrick, and son-in-law, Edward E. Emrick IV, of Clermont, Florida. He is also survived by his siblings: Charles (brother) and Sarah Hood of Tallahassee, Florida; Dennis (brother) and Kathleen Hood of Monroe, Georgia; and Melanie (sister) and Jim Towne of Fruitland Park, Florida; and mother-in-law, Marion Almstedt of Winter Garden, Florida. He will also be lovingly remembered by a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Scott and his family have been blessed by the steadfast love and support of many friends and family, especially during the past few years. A service celebrating and honoring Scott's life will be held at 2pm on October 8, at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center, 1500 Sand Lake Road, Orlando, Florida.
