Curtis Eugene Jackson

Curtis Eugene Jackson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and man of faith, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. Curtis was born on November 21, 1957, in Duluth, Georgia, to the late Emmett and Betty Jackson. He graduated from DeLand High School in 1976, where he met the love of his life, Sharon. The two quickly realized they had found something special and were married shortly after graduation. Their marriage was filled with 39 years of love, laughter, faith, and countless adventures together, until Sharon’s passing. Curtis began his career in the cable television industry, a career that took him and his family to 18 different states. After many years of traveling and making memories along the way, Curtis eventually returned to Florida, settling in Eustis. He later worked for Merita Bread until 2008. In 1989, Curtis answered God’s call to become a preacher. His faith was at the center of his life, and in the early 2000s, he founded Gateway Baptist Church in Umatilla, Florida. Curtis devoted himself to serving the Lord and sharing his faith with others. His love for the Lord was his first priority, closely followed by the love he had for his family. Curtis was a devoted husband to Sharon and a loving father. Together, Curtis and Sharon enjoyed many adventures throughout their marriage, but their greatest adventure was raising their two sons, Tyler and Clay. Nothing brought Curtis greater joy than his family, and he treasured the time spent with his children and grandchildren. Curtis is survived by his wife, Cynthia Jackson; his sons, Tyler (Leah) Jackson and Clay (Mandy) Jackson; his five beloved granddaughters, Riley, Colbie, Marlie, Aubrey, and Sydney; and his brother, Jason (Susan) Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Betty Jackson; his beloved first wife, Sharon Jackson; and his sister, Marcia Jackson. Curtis leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, family, and service. He will be remembered for his devotion to the Lord, his unwavering love for his family, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that Curtis is now home with the Lord and reunited with Sharon. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23 A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel, 279 S. Central Ave, Umatilla, FL 32784, funeral services to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Eustis, Florida. Arrangements entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home of Leesburg, Florida.
