Obituary of Christy Kos Christy Skipp Kos-wife, mother, daughter, friend-passed away unexpectedly in the early hours of Saturday, February 15, 2014, at her winter home in The Villages, FL. The joy she brought to the lives of those around her is nearly impossible to express. Christy was born in Zanesville, OH; raised in Howland, OH; and lived in Cortland, OH for 32 years. She worked hard to make a life she was proud of: marrying her husband of 31 years, Richard; giving birth to her two children, Abbey and Jake; and serving as mom to two dachshunds, Simon and Rascal. In 1993 she graduated summa cum laude from Youngstown State University, attaining a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication. She was the owner of Kos Realty, Inc., and a real estate appraiser for 15 years, retiring two years ago. She loved Christmas, reading by her pool, and her weekend residence on the shore of Lake Erie. She was fiercely protective of her family and devoted to her friends (especially "the amigas"). She raised two children, watching them turn into adults of whom she was massively proud. She kept her husband clothed, fed, and (mostly) out of trouble for three decades. She thought of others before herself and found great contentment in making others happy. She was funny, witty, and kind beyond measure. In short, she was incredible. Although we mourn her passing, we rejoice in the thousands of happy memories we have of Christy-each a testament to who she was and how she lived her life. And although much of this note is about who Christy was, there are many things she is and always will be: beloved, missed, and remembered. She is survived by her husband Richard and son Jake (Cortland, OH); her daughter Abbey (Washington, DC); her stepdaughters Julie (Lordstown, OH) and Heather (Charlotte, NC); her brother Alexander (Houston, TX); and family across the country.
