Obituary of Carolyn Branch Carolyn Jean Branch, 73, Center Hill, Florida, on Saturday morning, January 9th, God called one of His angels home, Carolyn Jean Bagwell Branch. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Billy/Twig, of 54 years; her beloved daughter Sunni and son-in-law Jeff; her sisters-in-law Barbara and Pati; her sisters and their husbands, Mayo (Ken), Judy (Mike), and Linda (Tom); her brothers and their wives, Jonathan (Gerta), Weldon, and James; several nieces and nephews; and last but not least her cherished yellow lab, Bridget. Jean also included in her Christian family all of her numerous friends and acquaintances whose lives she touched with her gentle, caring spirit. Jean was born on April 19th, 1936, in East Flat Rock, North Carolina. She was always proud to be called a "Tarheel". She fell in love with a handsome, dashing, young man in the Air Force, and married him in 1955, leaving behind nursing school. They moved around the eastern US, eventually settling in Center Hill, Florida, where Billy grew up. Sunni was born in 1967 and Jean became a teacher's aide so she would always be there for her daughter. Jean made a great impression on her students, with several of them keeping in touch long after they had grown up and Jean had retired. Later in life Jean was an avid Orlando Magic fan and watched their games faithfully. Also, everyone who met Jean knew of her great love of giraffes, her house and yard overflowed with statues, pictures, etc. Visitation There will be a service of remembrance on Wednesday, January 13, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Purcell Funeral Home, 114 W. Noble Ave., Bushnell. We would love for you to join us and share a special story of Jean and/or her family. Services Her memorial service will be given by Dr. James Finley and Bro. Ray Brannen on Thursday, January 14, at 10 am in Purcell's Chapel. Interment She will be interred at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at 11:30 am following the service. Memorials In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Florida Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 8190, Lakeland, FL 33802.
