Blanche Knowles

Obituary of Blanche Knowles Blanche Ward Bosanquet Knowles, 86, passed away on July 23, 2012 peacefully at her home surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born on July 14, 1926, at Fair Oaks in Fruitland Park in the same home that her father was born. Fair Oaks was well-known for years for the Sunday afternoon teas on the front lawn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles Joseph(Joe)Knowles. She was a graduate of Leesburg High School and Florida State University(1948). She received her Master's Degree at University of Florida. She began teaching at Leesburg High School when her 3 children reached school age until she retired in 1988. Her students were very important to her. She was an Episcopalian. Her family was very involved with establishment and development of Holy Trinity Church dating back to the time of her grandfather. Other interests include more than 50 years in the Bertha Hereford Hall chapter of the DAR, 22 years of service in the GFWC Woman's Club of Leesburg, making costumes for the Melon Patch Theatre, and most importantly loving and enjoying her 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Her parents were Ruth and Alfred Bosanquet. Blanche was the oldest of five children. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Jeanne and Francis(Tia)and her brother, Gershon(Gogo). Her brother Louis(Bud)lives in St. Louis. Survivors include her sons, David A.(Cheryl B.), Steve G.(Elizabeth; daughter, Mary K. Hicks all of Leesburg, FL; brother, Louis P."Bud" Bosanquet of St. Louis, MO; ten grandchildren, John and Tim Knowles, Sarah, Amanda, and Liam Knowles, Stephanie Daily, Laura Bass, Josh, Joseph and Kelly Butler and seven great grandchildren, Joseph, Rebecca, Garon, Hannah, Leah, Aiden and Conor. Visitation will be Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Beyers Funeral Home, Leesburg. A Funeral Service will be Friday, July 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM at St. James Episcopal Church, Leesburg. Burial will follow at Lone Oak Cemetery, Leesburg, FL For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to The Friends of The Library, 100 East Main Street, Leesburg, FL 34748.
