Beverly Orrill

How do you describe the selfless beauty of someone whose whole life was spent in service to others? Someone who never sought out the limelight or recognition for themselves yet worked tirelessly to see that others succeeded? This precious soul is whom we have just lost and the world is a poorer place. Beverly Orrill died on October 30, 2020 and now is in the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Beverly was married to Charles Franklin Orrill for 50 years. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2002. Beverly is survived by her 6 children (the number she specifically had asked God for as a young bride). They are Susan Marchesseault, Melissa Baker, Patricia Buckley, Michael Orrill, Cindy Childers, and Chuck Orrill Jr. The Orrills were longtime residents of Satellite Beach, Florida. The family moved there in 1962 when Mr. Orrill began working for NASA. With 6 children in the family, the Orrill household was a busy house for sure, yet somehow Beverly found the time to work and volunteer in the community. Beverly was a licensed practical nurse (LPN) and worked in home health care. She was also a tireless volunteer for many groups including the Cub Scouts, Girls Scouts, Sunday school teacher, Pink Ladies, and more. The family enjoyed Sunday afternoon picnics at the Indian River Lagoon, Christmas parties with mountains of cookies and treats, and singing Christmas carols in the living room with family and guests. When Beverly found some time for herself, she enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, and watching action movies. (She especially loved the Rambo films.) In 2003, after the death of her husband, Beverly moved to Lakeview Terrace Retirement Community in Altoona, Florida. There she continued her lifelong habit of helping others by volunteering in the Health Care Center Activity Department. She taught exercise classes, assisted with parties, helped decorate for the holidays, served as a mobile librarian and was the "Wish Cart" coordinator. She was a respected member of the community and was recognized as the Health Care Center "Volunteer of the Year" in 2011. Beverly's life centered on her faith and her family. When her parents could no longer live alone, they joined the Orrill household in Satellite Beach. She remembered every birthday and every major event, and she always let each of her 6 children, 15 grandchildren, and her 20 great-grandchildren know how unique and special they were and that they were deeply loved. C.S. Lewis once described a woman like Beverly in his book The Great Divorce. He describes a parade in heaven being done in honor of a very special lady. Her life was being celebrated because of her legacy on earth, which was simply this, -- that she had room in her heart for every person and every creature that ever came into her life. This is what Heaven celebrates, that people learn how to really love. So, with hearts stinging with the pain of loss, we celebrate this life that touched so many and taught by example what it means to serve and to love. A life well lived. The Violet Down in a green and shady bed, A modest violet grew; Its stalk was bent, it hung its head As if to hide from view.
