Arthur "Terry" D. Beebe

Arthur “Terry” D. Beebe was born in Philadelphia to Fred and Stella Crowley Beebe. The youngest of five children: Albert R. Beebe, Corrine Graves Taylor, Drucilla M. Burghard and Rev. David E. Beebe. He was married to Margaret (Peggy) Janet Taylor for 66 years. He is survived by two daughters: Elizabeth Graves Zaccaria, Judith Bellotti, and three sons: Thomas Beebe, Kevin Beebe Sr. and Matthew Beebe. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was a member of the first graduating class of Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia. Terry began his career in the emerging world of computers, but he is best known for his work at Girard Bank in Philadelphia, where he finished as the Senior Vice President of Human Relations until 1985 In 1968, he began coaching basketball at Gloucester Catholic High School as an assistant coach. In April of 2025 as part of the team, he was inducted into their newly established Hall of Fame for winning two NJSIAA State Championships in 1970 and 1972. He served as the Chairman of the Philadelphia Urban League and was responsible for the first publication of “The State of Black Philadelphia”. He received an award from President Ronald Reagan for his work in hiring the handicapped. 1985, Terry and Peggy became “corporate nomads”. His experience with bank mergers and acquisitions led to being a consultant to banks doing such transactions. They lived in Atlanta, Tampa, Valley Forge PA, and Albany NY. In 1990, Peggy and Terry retired to Leesburg Florida. In Leesburg, Terry discovered his singing voice. He crooned to benefit the Leesburg Food Bank, the Center for the Arts (of which he was the Chairman of the Board for eight years) and at various senior communities and nursing homes. For several years, Terry was the chorister at the Waterman Village Chapel services. He was a chaplain at Waterman’s Edgewater and Bridgewater facilities on Wednesday mornings, going from room to room, visiting patients and dispensing a mix of spirituality and humor to them. He often remarked about how lucky he was to learn from them and how to accept death, and the prospect of heaven. As usual, he did that well, too.
