Obituary of Arthur Longley Arthur W. Longley, Jr. (2/19/22 - 12/22/10) Village of Silver Lake, Lady Lake, Florida Mr. Longley was born in New Haven and grew up in the Westville. In 1933 he was proud to have served in the 180th Company of the CCC's in East Hartland, CT. This work project consisted of development and improvement of the Tunxis State Forest with creation of recreational areas, road and trails, disease and pest control. He also served in the U. S. Army during World War II stationed in England and France. He was the co-founder of Circle A Automotive and Truck Repair in Hamden, CT. An avid golfer, he was a former longstanding member of Wallingford Country Club where he had 3 hole in ones and one windshield. He also had a hole in one in Freeport, Bahamas and one in Hamden, CT. While in The Villages he "shot his age" many times. Mr. Longley was a Mason with Adelphi Momauguin Lodge #63 in New Haven, CT. Mr. Longley was one of the founding members of the (CT) Elm City Banjo Society. For the past two years he played banjo with The Jammers and the Acoustic Guitar Club in The Villages, FL and sat on the back of a golf cart strumming his banjo in many of The Villages parades. He also enjoyed his computer. Parents - Arthur Longley and Marie Lendroth Longley, he has one surviving brother, Turk Longley of Farwell, TX. He was predeceased by one brother & two sisters. Survivors: He is the beloved husband of Diane Strawhince Longley and had been previously married to the late Elva West Longley Children: June Colberg & the late(Horton) Landon of Madison Arthur & (Charlene) Longley of East Haven (Charles) and the late Dawn Clark of East Haven Sharon and (Curt) Anderson of Orange Grandchildren Kerri Lynne and Tom Reid of Anthem, AZ, Dawn , Kristen and Melissa Longley of East Haven, Laura Longley of Meriden, David Clark and Heather Miller of East Haven, Christopher, Leigh and Robert Anderson of Orange Services A memorial service will be held at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel, Lady Lake, FL on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Keith Johnson officiating. Graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL with Full Military Honors conducted by Springhill Marine Corps League Honor Guard.
