Alvin "Rocky" Lowell Garsnett

Alvin (Rocky) Lowell Garsnett, Jr., age 77, died on Friday, August 28, 2026, after a short stay at the Ted & Diane Brandley Hospice House in Summerfield, Florida. Rocky was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 30, 1948, the second child of Alvin Lowell Garsnett, Sr. and Frieda Mildred Rust. He grew up in Indianapolis and attended the Eastside Church of the Nazarene. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1968 and was immediately drafted into the United States Army. He was stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, before serving with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), 35th Supply & Service Battalion (USAREUR), at Flak-Kaserne in Ludwigsburg, West Germany. Rocky was a formally trained culinary specialist cook and baker and earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Sharpshooter Qualification Badge for the M14 rifle during his Vietnam War-era service from 1967 – 1969. He married Wanda Jean Walters of Indianapolis on April 6,1968 at the Nazarene Church of Clarksville, Tennessee. The couple spent the first year of their marriage in Germany. After returning to Indiana, the couple had three daughters: Stephanie Marie, Angela Dawn, and Pamela Michelle. The family lived in Spencer, Bloomington, Martinsville, and Fountaintown, Indiana, before moving to Ocala, Florida in 1988. He retired from Signature Brands in 2024, and he attended Grace Baptist Church of Belleview. Rocky was preceded in death by his wife Wanda Jean, parents Alvin Sr. & Frieda, sister Suzanne Garsnett Sparks, granddaughter Kiersten Garsnett, and two nephews Kevin and Gregory Garsnett. He leaves behind many to mourn his passing including daughters Stephanie DeLorme (Michael), Angela Garsnett (Germaine Johnson), and Pamela Wallace (James “Jim”); grandchildren Kelsey Riffle, Karley DeLorme, Kindall Garsnett & Preston Garsnett; great grandchildren Riverlynn Hole and Alexander Riffle; brothers Norman (Karen) Garsnett, Richard (Kay) Garsnett; sisters Sharon Garsnett, April (Richard) Everroad and numerous family and friends. The funeral will be held on Friday, September 18th at Purcell Chapel, 114 West Noble Ave., Bushnell, Florida 33513. The viewing will be at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Burial will be at 12:30pm with full military honors at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell Florida.
