Alice Marie Ladwig

Our loving Mother, Alice Marie Ladwig, went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2017. She was welcomed to her eternal heavenly home by her husband Charles, son Gary, Grandson Scott and Great Granddaughter Braelyn Lee. Alice was born May 9, 1921 and was raised by her parents in a small Iowa town where she grew up with 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She was a faithful member of The Church of All Faiths. Although she could no longer attend the services, she was blessed with the recorded services brought to her each week. She appreciated her church family for the many visits, flowers and communion at her home over the past few years. Her son Dennis Ladwig and wife Marilyn of Spencer, Iowa, and daughter Roz Tall Harris of The Villages, along with 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 ¾ great-great grandchildren are celebrating her life and reminiscing about our family memories, feeling so tremendously blessed to have had such wonderful role models in our father and mother for both their faith and values. Chuck and Alice moved to The Villages in 1994. They loved to dance, enjoyed golf, entertaining, and Sunday church followed by brunch with friends. They were married 64 years when Dad passed away in 2004. Alice loved watching all sports on television; from the Little League World Series, golf and tennis, to the college playoffs. Her favorite game of the year was always the Iowa/Iowa State football game. However, her most precious outings were going to her great grandson's Little League games in Belleview. In the last 3 weeks of Mom's life, she survived losing her home in a fire on August 20th, The Cyclones losing to the Hawkeyes in overtime, and Hurricane Irma. She was truly a strong spirited woman. Although those of us she left behind will miss her terribly, we are so thankful for the 96 years God gave us.Celebration of Life Please join us in a celebration of Mom's life on Saturday, September 30th at 10:00am at The Church of All Faiths, 1401 Paradise Drive, The Villages. A celebration in Iowa will be held November 25th. Arrangements are being made through Palmer Funeral home in Gowrie, Iowa.
