Obituary of Joyce Quilty Joyce "Joy" L. (Griffiths) Quilty, 76, formerly of Centerville, OH, passed on December 3rd, 2011. Born in Cleveland, OH and raised in Hudson, OH, Joy graduated from Denison University with a degree in Education and Geology. She was a 5th grade teacher, an avid bridge player, and proudly served as President of the South Dayton chapter of American Field Service (AFS). Most of all, she was a creative and vibrant woman, a loving wife, and a devoted mother and grandmother. Joy successfully ran her "Country Cupboard Crafts" business for over 25 years. She was a member of the inaugural Kings Island Winterfest Shoppes while also serving as part of the Ohio Crafters Association. Her strong-willed determination brought an important Trotwood school district levy to successful completion following many unsuccessful attempts. Her home became a second home for three AFS students, as well as home to GMI, Cincinnati and Purdue co-op students. Joy also initiated and chaired The Villages' Latrobe Villas social committee. Joy is survived by Bill, her husband of 49 years, and sister Mary Griffiths of Hudson, OH, as well as son Scott of Center Valley, PA, his wife Melissa (Locke), and four granddaughters, Allison, Kirstin, Samantha and Carolyn, and daughter Anne of Rochester, MI, her husband Wayne Montour, and four grandsons, Chase, Peyton, Alexander and Bradyn. During her extensive eight-year battle with breast cancer, Joy was continually amazed with the exceptional people of The Villages, the graciousness, warmth and concern of her Latrobe Villas neighbors and the support of her long-time Ohio friends and faithful extended family.
