Donald Clay Myers

Donald Clay Myers, a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and educator, entered eternal rest on August 18th, 2024, at the age of 87. He passed peacefully in hospice care, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 17th, 1937, in Covington, Kentucky, Donald's early years were marked by a nomadic lifestyle as his parents renovated and sold homes. At the tender age of seven, he began assisting them, developing a practical skill set that would serve him well throughout his life. His summers as a boy were spent visiting family in Kentucky, working at his grandparents' general store, and a great adventure of traveling there by bus. Donald was a gifted storyteller, often regaling his family and friends with vivid tales of his childhood adventures. He also possessed a deep-rooted passion for automobiles, demonstrating an engineering mind that allowed him to salvage and combine two damaged cars into a single, beautifully restored vehicle. Donald's career was as diverse as his interests. He served as a pastor, educator, administrator, and jack-of-all-trades. His versatility and dedication to his work were evident in all he undertook. After a successful career, he retired to Florida with his wife, Janet. Together, they established their successful business, Yesterday's Treasures, at Renninger's Flea Market & Antique Center For 31 years, they delighted customers with unique items they curated from auctions and estate sales, which Donald expertly restored to their former glory. Donald and Janet shared a love of travel, frequently returning to Ohio to visit family and friends. Even last year, they embarked on a road trip in their RV, towing their car behind. When at home, they enjoyed boating on local lakes, and Donald cherished the tradition of giving each of his grandchildren their first bite of ice cream. Donald was the beloved husband of Janet Young Myers, with whom he shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. He was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Myers, and his granddaughter, Jennifer who shared his birthday. He is survived by his devoted wife, Janet; his loving daughters, Cheryl and Michele (Daniel) Cleary; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members. Donald’s life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and unwavering love for his family. He will be remembered for his kindness, his wisdom, and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey. A memorial service will be held at the Amanda Methodist Church, 200 E High Street, Amanda, Ohio 43102 September 15th, 2024 @ 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cornerstone Hospice & Palliative Care, 601 Mariposa Way, The Villages, FL 32162 in honor of Donald Myers.
