Dean F. Martin

Dean F. Martin passed away peacefully on Sunday February 12. He was born July 24, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio to Vincent Francis and Verna Ellen Martin (Winslow). He was the third child, with older brother & sister Tim Martin and Beverly Manthey (deceased), and three younger sisters, Lynn Diederich, Nancy Sprouse and Terry Belsole (deceased). Dean attended high school at Lakewood High School in Cleveland and just before his 18th birthday, enlisted in the Navy. He served as an Aviation Technician Private 2nd class. After leaving the Navy, he returned to his hometown Cleveland, where he began working for Xerox as a machine technician and met his wife, Judith Surdy. They married May 11, 1968 and raised three children. The family moved to Dayton, OH in 1978 where Dean was always very involved in his children’s activities, coaching many sport teams throughout the years and volunteering for their High School Band events. In his 41-year career at Xerox, Dean held many positions. Starting as a service technician, he rose to a management position and then made the move to sales where he made Presidents Club 6 times. His favorite role was being a trainer for the younger, incoming sales professionals. Upon retiring, he enjoyed golf at Sycamore Creek Country Club. This led to a full-time golf retirement when he and Judy moved to The Villages. While living in Florida, he made many neighborhood and golfing friends, and volunteered at their Parish, St. Vincent de Paul, and the Food Pantry located there. Dean is survived by his wife Judy Martin, residing in The Villages, FL; son Timothy Martin (Pam Powers Martin), and daughters Tracey Corbo (Brian Quigley) and Linda Skelton (Mick Skelton) all residing in Ohio; 8 grandchildren; Tim, Matt, Marlee and Will Martin; Joseph, Michael and Ella Corbo and Charlie Skelton. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Wildwood, FL. March 13 at 2pm.
