Join us for a walk at Flat Island Preserve. Wear comfortable shoes, bring water and a snack or bag lunch, and maybe some bug spray--it is Florida after all!
The trail was inspired by Dr. and Mrs. Rexford Daubenmire, both botanists from the Pacific Northwest who relocated to Lake County after Dr. Rexford retired as a professor at the University of Idaho and Washington State University. Dr. Daubenmire authored two books on botany: Plants and Environment (1947) and Plan Communities (1968).
There are three trails that comprise 3.7-mile miles of loops. Typical walks for the group are around 1 mile.
