Obituary for Kenneth E Anderson

Kenneth E Anderson
On Monday, February 22, Kenneth Eugene Anderson of Summerfield, Florida, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 82. Ken was born to Herman and Gertrude Anderson in Coleman, Alabama on July 5, 1938.

Ken was a proud and devoted family man and a true patriot. He loved our country and all the good things it stands for. He enlisted in the United Sates Navy in 1955 and retired as a Chief Petty Officer in 1975. While serving our country, Ken served meritoriously in historically significant events, such as his time aboard the USS Iwo Jima when he participated in an important series of nuclear tests, and then later took part in the blockade of Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After retiring, he founded and operated a successful business, Kendon International, dealing in precious metals for the dental industry, and drawing on skills he acquired during his time as a Chief Dental Technician in the Navy. He was a world traveler, avid golfer and sports fan.

He is survived by his wife, Sophia Anderson, and his first wife Carol “Lynne” Fisher. From his marriage with Lynne, he is survived by their son Jeff Anderson, wife Brenda, and their children Matthew and Krista; their daughter Rhonda Laberge, husband Paul, and Rhonda’s daughter Jessica Schwarz; their daughter Dana Kelly, husband Brian, and their son Conor. His dear niece, Debbie Tittle will also mourn the loss of him.

From his marriage with Sophia, he is survived by her son Bill Bourke; her son Scott Bourke, wife Jessica and their children William, Jeffrey and Holland; her daughter Carol and her son Matthew Green.

Ken will be interred at the Florida National Cemetery with full military honors at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

The Anderson siblings, Jeff, Rhonda and Dana are eternally grateful to Bill Bourke. They were greatly comforted by the fact that Billy was able to be with Ken towards the end, sitting with him, sharing voice messages of love from the family and personally tending his needs in Ken’s hospital room.
