Charles “Charlie” Edward Patterson passed away peacefully of natural causes on the evening of March 29, 2020, while being comforted by loving family members at Brookdale Freedom Point in The Villages, FL. Charlie was 97 years old. He was born on January 21, 1923 in Longmont, CO. Charlie was the first Son of Charles and Ada Patterson. Charlie graduated from Venice HS in Los Angeles, CA. Charlie was a distinguished WW II Veteran and a Staff Sargent and member of the 364th Air Corps Squadron and was an Airplane Fuel Tank repairman. Charlie received the WW II victory medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, and the Meritorious Unit award. He was honorably discharged in January 1946. Upon returning from WW II, he married Lillian McKee in February 1946. Charlie was a loving husband, father and friend to many people. He was a member of and attended The Assembly of God Church in Grass Valley, CA. He was the owner of Nevada County Overhead Door Company for many years. In addition, he was an accomplished Carpenter. In 2015 he moved to The Villages, FL to be with his daughter Denice and family. He was a member of the American Legion and in 2016 traveled to Washington DC on the “Honor Flight “accompanied by his son-in-law Don. Charlie is preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Lillian McKee Patterson, his parents Charles and Ada Patterson, two sisters; Ruth Christian and Norma Christian, granddaughter Melissa Patterson, all of CA. Charlie is survived by sister Marjorie Lieser of Ontario, CA, brother Donald Patterson of Sacramento, CA, daughter Denice and husband Don Yost of The Villages, FL, son Chuck and wife Sharon Patterson of Grass Valley, CA, son Rocky and wife Tracy Patterson of Port Hill, ID, son Edward and wife Becky Sanders of Folsom, CA. Nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
