I always found Howard to be a gentleman and a sincere Christian. He drove the handicapped golf cart at the re-enactment most years and was always so helpful. Those of us who volunteered with him at Dade Battlefield will truly miss him.

So many will miss "Chief Red Eagle", especially our "Dade Pioneers and Dade's Youth". The children and teens always enjoyed listening to his stories. His dedication to Dade Battlefield will long be remembered and appreciated. At this sad time, our hearts and prayers go out to his family.

Howard was a good friend of Dade Battlefield and attended board meetings of the Dade Battlefield Society faithfully. He always volunteered to help out at the park's many events and day camps. I never met anyone who didn't like him, and I know his loss will be deeply felt by his friends, family and members of the Pan-O-Kee Tribe. Lisa and I wish to extend our sincere condolences to all those whose lives were touched by the Chief.

In 2017 I joined the Panokee Native American Tribe in Bushnell. It was an honor to meet Chief and get to be part of the tribe and also do the website and emails for the tribe. Chief was a strong believer and he always opened our tribe meetings with a message and scripture. He was always happy to give speeches on Native American History for College and schools groups. He tried to teach us the Cherokee language also. Our last Powwow was Sept. 2018 this is my site for photos taken during his last Powwow. you can look up pictures on my site, site will not allow links Flickr photos hawkinsfreelancephotography you will also find 2 videos by Chief on the site.
He loved doing this as you could tell but due to unforeseen issues we were not able to do another one. Chief, we shall see you again one day if we are believers we have this promise. You are now sitting with THE CHIEF AND CREATOR. We know you will also have a glorified body that was better than the one you had on earth. A'Ho
