Dorothy Agnes Parrish, 90, of Webster, FL, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019, surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness.
Dorothy was born in Pinellas County, Florida to Arthur and Gertrude Barksdale. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse, serving the medical field most of her life. Dorothy was a nurse at an orphanage in Colorado following nursing school, and worked in hospitals, as a private duty nurse and dietician. She had many other jobs to provide a means to take care of her family, and finally as a care giver to the elderly.
She definitely had a variety of interests. Dorothy had a green thumb that included plants, fruit trees and her prize Christmas cactus. She loved Dachshunds and newborn babies almost as much as she loved Elvis!, the king.
She loved to bake and contributed to the Linden Cemetery annual fundraiser. But most of all, she loved God, her family and friends. Dorothy was a member of the Linden Church of God for over 40 years.
She is survived by her daughter Fay E. Phillips (Larry) of Webster and sons Ray E. Parrish (Donna) of Brookville and John B. Parrish of Mabel. Dorothy also leaves a sister Frieda Simmons of Mabel, 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 5 great-God-grandchildren.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. (with ceremony at 1:30 and dinner to follow) at the home of Fay Phillips, 14068 CR 719 Webster, FL. Donations in her memory may be made to the Linden Church of God, 4309 CR 722, Webster, FL 33597.
Arrangements entrusted to Purcell Funeral Home, Bushnell, Florida.
