Obituary for Dave L. Adams

Dave L. Adams
Dave L Adams left this Earth on August 6, 2018, at his home in Leesburg Florida. Dave was born on January 29, 1940, to Herbert Adams and Thelma Adams in Cramcreek, Kentucky.

Dave is survived by his wife of 50 years, Laura Adams, 3 sons, Herbert Adams (Alice) of Portal, Georgia; James Adams (Lisa) of Leesburg, Florida; Charles Adams (Karen) of Kissimmee, Florida; and daughter/(adopted granddaughter) Ashley Adams of Kissimmee, Florida. He also is survived by 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Additionally, Dave is survived by 3 brothers Bobby Adams, Cecil Adams, Eddie Adams and by 5 sisters, Barbara Wheeler (Larry), Christeen Dempsey (Harrison), Judy Lindsey (Robert), Nina Horton (Jesse), and Mickey Bragg (Junior). Preceded in death by his father Herbert Adams, mother Thelma Adams, brothers Herbert Adams (Sandy), Billy Adams (Dixie), sisters Lettie Sexton, Grace McCullough (JC), and Sue McCullough (Douglas).

Dave was born of modest means, and entered the work force at the early age of 14 as a coal miner to help take care of his family. Eventually he moved to Florida and settled in on his career as a roofer. That career served him for more than 32 years. He would probably still be repairing and installing roofs had he not suffered a back injury. Dave had a strong work ethic and a high regard for the value of family.

His marriage to Laura was his greatest joy. His family was only second to her. He believed that family takes care of each other especially in times of need and he lived what he believed. Even in his last days on Earth he was worried more about Laura’s rest and well-being than his own.

Dave had a great outlook on life. Paraphrased he once said “We are placed on this earth to make a positive difference in someone else’s life. If we aren’t capable, or can no longer do that then why are we really here?”
He has been a wonderful and positive influence in so many others’ lives. He will always be remembered for his infectious laugh, warm smile, life lessons, compassionate heart, and loving character.

We will see you soon. You will be loved and missed forever.

Visitation will be held at Beyers Funeral Home Chapel, Leesburg on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 11:30 to 1:00pm with Celebration of Life following at 1:00pm. Immediately following the service will be a reception at the Leesburg Landing Club House for family and friends.
