Marie Oliver of Bushnell, Florida, died Monday, April 2, 2018 at her home. She was 96. Marie was born in Gwinnett County, Georgia on May 12, 1921, the daughter of Carl Watson Johnson and the former Beatrice Hewatt.
She worked as a civilian employee of the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was a secretary for Southern Saw Service in Atlanta, Georgia until 1957 when she moved to Clearwater, Florida and was employed by Able-1 Telephone Answering Service, eventually attaining the position of Bay Area Manager of two offices. After retiring from that position, she continued to work at Edward White Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida for some years.
She was the widow of Edgar Foster Oliver, who died in 1994. She is survived by her brother, Carl W. Johnson (husband of Gloria) of Blairsville, Georgia; her children: Michael Foster Oliver (husband of Patricia) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Sandra Oliver Becker (wife of Willard) of Pinellas Park, Florida, and Beatrice Eileen Oliver of Bushnell, Florida. She was the grandmother of William Gene Cole (husband of Patti) of Riverview, Florida, Lynn Scott of Woodstock, Georgia, Sarah Oliver Newell (wife of Justin) of Budapest, Hungary, and Matthew Lee Cole. She was the great-grandmother of 5.
