Betty Rowe Stewart, 94, a long-time resident of Leesburg, FL, passed away on February 1, 2018, five days before her 95th birthday. Betty was born February 6, 1923 to Ralph and Scott Marie Rowe in Kenova, West Virginia. She married her husband Basil F. Stewart in 1947, and they moved to Leesburg in 1956. Betty loved chocolate, socializing with family, friends and neighbors, and she became active in the Leesburg Women’s Bowling Association, serving as president for 6 years. She served as secretary of numerous leagues, coached junior bowlers, and was inducted into the Leesburg Bowling Association 1990-1991 Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Basil in 1983 and two grandchildren, Krystin Stewart in 2000 and Matthew Stewart in 2006.
Betty will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Sandra Dudley of Spokane, WA; Sherry Rigdon (Joe) of Oviedo, FL; Shelley Von Hartman (Alan) of Howey-in-the-Hills, FL; and her son, J Scott Stewart (Pam) of Fairbanks, AK; as well as 7 grandchildren (Chris Ziegler, Lisa French, Tiffany Seifert, Diana Ham, Amy Rigdon, Alex Von Hartman, and Adam Rigdon); 10 great-grandchildren (Dylan Stokes, Brittney Eisenhuth, Kelsey Ziegler, Lincoln French, Isabelle French, Alex French, Katelyn Ziegler, Esme Seifert, Olivia Seifert, and Benjamin Siefert); and 2 great-great-grandchildren (Naya Stokes and Mabel Eisenhuth).
A Celebration of Life service will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Morrison Methodist Church in Leesburg. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice Foundation, 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778.
