David R. Robey, 61, of Fruitland Park, FL, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2018.He was born December 1, 1956 to the late Carl Martin Robey and Gertrude (Villers) Robey. Dave called the Mid-Ohio Valley of West Virginia his home for much of his life,attending Parkersburg High School and later serving his hometown as a member of the United States Army Reserve. Dave continued to support the armed forces as a member of the American Legion, most recently as the commander for Post 219 in Fruitland Park, FL.
He was a proud business owner in Central Florida in most recent years, having previously worked for CSX Transportation in Northern Ohio for over fourteen years. Dave was an outstanding guitar player with a music history that spanned several decades. Having been a member of numerous bands, he drew crowds and fans with his skill, stunning good looks and sunny disposition.
He leaves behind the love of his life Lori Ann Robey of Fruitland Park, FL., his brother K. Michael Robey (Pam) of Vienna, WV., four children that he adored and loved fiercely- Selena Roney (Chris) of Savannah, GA., Connor Robey (Tonya) of Marietta, OH, Darren Renbarger (Tina) of Ocala, FL, and Jessica Vandergriff (Chris) of Lady Lake, FL., four grandchildren- Braedin and Carson Roney of Savannah, GA., Samantha Robey of Williamstown, WV., and Alana Renbarger of Ocala, FL., his nephew Michael Robey of Parkersburg, WV., and one niece- Angela Robey of Parkersburg, WV.
Along with his parents, Dave is preceded in death by his brother Buddy Roger Robey and youngest son Dustin Martin Robey.
A memorial service will be held at American Legion Post 219 in Fruitland Park on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.. Guest speaker will be Robert Spencer. In lieu of flowers, that family asks that donations be made in his honor to the Fruitland Park Police Department.
