James Roger Hewson, 86
James “Jim” Hewson, of The Villages, Florida, passed away, Friday, January 5, 2018 at his home.
Jim was born December 2nd, 1931 in Hamburg, NY to Elmer and Emily “Dolly” (Robertson). On November 5th 1955, he married the former May Bell in Blasdell, NY. Jim was employed as an Engineer in Syracuse NY with both General Electric and Syracuse Research Corporation.
Jim served honorably in the United States Navy (9/26/50 – 9/14/55) concentrating in Electric Engineering and performing as a Fire Control Technician aboard the USS Roanoke “145” visiting many ports of call.
Jim served as President of the Upper Buck Senior Citizen Center, Quakertown PA. He thoroughly enjoyed the many friends and numerous dances; many times in one of his self designed, outfits. Dad was ‘Captain Jack Sparrow’!
Jim moved to ‘The Villages’ Florida in 2015 where he immediately joined up with many dance clubs such as ‘Sunny Singles’, ‘Sumter Singles’ and ‘Singles N Dance’. He also attended several dances in one of his ‘prize’, self-designed costumes.
“Dad” enjoyed hobbies in art drawings and ‘collections’. He had a ‘passion’ for visiting consignments shops for that special art piece to add to his collection.
Jim is preceded in death by his younger brother, Edward “Teddy” (Vicky) and survived by his two sons, Mark James (Erin), Scott Eric and two daughters, Laurie Ann (Richard Spanos), Melissa May; three grandchildren, Robert Eric, Alexander William, Belanna Rae, and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of LifeA celebration of life service will be begin with visitation at 2:00 pm and services to follow at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 12 at Beyers Funeral Home, The Villages-Lady Lake, 134 N US Highway 441, Lady Lake, FL 32159.
