Edward Hesler, 90, of Sumterville, FL, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017. He was born June 21, 1927 to Edward and Thelma Hesler in Jamaica, New York. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of The Traditional Roman Catholic Church, Our Lady of Fatima and St. Cajetan in Spring Hill, Florida. Mr. Hesler enjoyed taking care of his horse, golfing, chess, horse races and going to church.
He is survived by his children: Donna Costanza of Sumterville, FL; Debbie Nappi (James) of Fruitland Park, FL; Terry Nassif of Keystone Heights, FL; Dale Overstreet of Keystone Heights, FL; Scott Hesler (Tammy) of Sumterville, FL; Annie Noell of Wildwood, FL; 22 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Linda Hesler of Miami, FL; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: James (Judith) Duff, Winifred (George) Sammis, Thomas Walkman and many extended family members. Mr. Hesler was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Thelma Hesler; his wife, Theresa Elizabeth Hesler; son: Edward Herbert Hesler, Jr.; grandsons: Jeremiah Overstreet and Alexander Overstreet; son-in-law Eugene Overstreet; and cousin, Ronald Rice.
Visitation and Service
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery with Father Edwin Palka officiating along with full military honors. Family and friends are invited to meet at Purcell Funeral Home between 12:30 and 1:00 p.m. to leave in procession at 1:00 to Florida National Cemetery.
