Obituary for Kevin Battaglia
Kevin Anthony Battaglia, 33, of Parkton, NC passed away on Sunday 1 October. He was born March 12, 1984 at Fort Benning, GA and as a military “brat”, Kevin lived in Germany, Fort Bragg in NC, New York, Panama, Fort Benning in GA, Colorado and Virginia. In 2004, he joined the US Army as a combat engineer. His first duty station was at Fort Bragg NC, with the 37th Engineer Battalion (Airborne). He served a combat tour in Afghanistan from March 2006 to March 2007 and a tour in Iraq from June 2009 to May 2010. Kevin loved the Army, was proud of his military service and quickly rose to the rank of staff sergeant within six years of service. He was medically retired in 2013 due to service related injuries. He is survived by his parents, Philip and Diane Battaglia and his three children, who he loved more than anyone can imagine, Cody Mathew, Victoria Rose, and Isabella Michelle. He was predeceased by his younger brother Jeffrey. Kevin was a loving son, caring father, and faithful brother. He loved his kids immensely and touched many lives. He loved his faith and he will be missed very much.
A visitation will be held at the Lady Lake Chapel of Beyers Funeral Home on Sunday, October 15, 2017 from 4:00 – 5:30p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 16, 2017 at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Lady Lake at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at 12:30p.m. with military honors provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
