Obituary for Dorothy "Dottie" Edwards
Dorothy “Dottie” Jean Edwards, age 85, of The Villages, FL and longtime resident of Pittsburgh, PA, peacefully passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017 after a long and courageous battle following a stroke. She was the daughter of the late Elroy and Jennie Cramer. She was preceded in death by husband, Ralph “Bill” Edwards; her youngest son, David Sr.; and siblings, Elroy, Charles, Elnora and Mary. Dottie is survived by her sons, William (Audrey) and Vernon (Brenda); five grandchildren, Bradley (Jill), Shawn (Krystal), Jennifer (C.J.), David Jr. and Leslie (Luis); two great grandchildren, Ashton and Watson; as well as numerous extended family members and cherished friends, each of whom she loved dearly. Dottie was an incredibly selfless, caring and generous woman who devoted her life to spending time helping the needs of others. Following her retirement, Dottie volunteered countless hours at St. Paul United Methodist Church and its affiliated North Hills Community Outreach Center before moving from Pittsburgh to The Villages, FL in 2015. She also loved to travel and found visiting local Amish communities to be one of her favorite destinations. She enjoyed sewing, baking and simply spending time with her family and many close friends.
Celebration of Life The family will host a Celebration of Life event for those who knew and loved her on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at the St. Paul United Methodist Church, Allison Park, PA.
Memorial Donations The family requests memorial donations in lieu of flowers to be sent to the St. Paul United Methodist Church’s Pastor Fund. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at South Campus Care Center for their outstanding care.
