She and her husband came to Leesburg in 1972 and bought and operated The Bait Shack on East Main in Leesburg for close to 30 yrs. During that time Maxine worked as a realtor and was an active member of BPW Leesburg Chapter. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking in her spare time.
She was survived by 3 daughters. The first Mary Killgrove along with her husband Jack of Lady Lake, Florida gave her 2 granddaughters, Lisa Russell of Lady Lake, who gave her 2 great granddaughters, Marissa Russell and Lauren Russell-Stout; Theresa Poplaski along with her husband Jason, of Lady Lake gave her another Great Grand Aurora Kay Huot. Thru their union she also loved Ellis Poplaski and Braylon Poplaski. Maxines second daughter Elizabeth Volzone gave her the first grandson Paul John Volzone . The third daughter Melissa Browne along with her husband Mark of Leesburg gave her 2 more grandchildren, Spencer Browne and Taylor Browne. In total Maxine’s 3 daughters, 5 Grandchildren, 5 great grands. Special mention to her adopted son Fitzgerald Lewis will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Williams who passed in 1996.
Maxine was always ready with a cold iced tea, a listening ear and a good joke. Maxine will be laid to rest on Friday August 18th next to her beloved in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at a private grave side service. Family requests in lieu of flowers contributions to Cornerstone Hospice would be wonderful.
