Obituary for Marco Perez
Marco T. Perez, 88, passed away Monday morning, April 10, 2017 at his home in The Villages, Florida. He leaves behind his wife of over 65 years, Maria Antonia; his daughters, Blanca and Jeannette; son, Marco; son-in-law, Max; nine grandchildren; five grandchildren-in-law; and fourteen great-grandchildren; as well as his brother, Delio and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Born and raised in Santiago, Cuba, he came to the United States at the age of 18, and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army. He sent for his sweetheart, whom he had met in Cuba before coming to the States, and on December 29, 1951, they were married in New York, where they lived for several years, their three children born there. After moving to California for two years then returning to New York, they finally settled in California in 1961, raising their children there. In their middle years, the couple bought a dry cleaners, and worked it for several years before retiring altogether, when they moved to The Villages in Florida. Mr. Perez enjoyed camping and traveling around the world until his health slowed him down. He also was an avid reader of the classics, historical works, and detective novels. He enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, and chess and was a very sociable person, easily making friends wherever he went. He had a positive outlook on life, which he loved and enjoyed to the fullest. More than anything, he loved his family. His goal in life, as he once stated, was to be a good husband and father. He was. Mr. Perez will be cremated.
